I used Microsofts SyncToy for a few years until Microsoft stopped supporting it, so I searched around and found FreeFilesync. It is free and is relatively easy to use. I tried asking on and they sent me here. Pros: Pros: It does two-way synchronization. The problem is that I wanted it when I was working on somebody else's computer, and I had turned my computer off, so there was absolutely no way to access the installer stored on my old Windows 7 computer.
#FREEFILESYNC VS SYNCTOY WINDOWS 10#
I know that RoboCopy GUI works just fine on my Windows 10 computer, although I haven't tested it on Win11 nor have I tried Rich Copy in the last decade, mostly because I'm satisfied with RoboCopy GUI. There was a utility called RichCopy that was supposed to replace RoboCopy GUI that might have worked, but again I got dead links.Ĭould somebody point me where I could get a copy of these utilities? Maybe there's an updated version. I kept getting taken to links to this article or the link in said article: Filter by these if you want a narrower list of alternatives or looking for a specific functionality of SyncToy. SyncToy alternatives are mainly File Sync Tools but may also be Backup Clients or Diff Tools. Yet I couldn't find the download link on Microsoft's site or the Microsoft Store. Other interesting Windows alternatives to SyncToy are FreeFileSync, IPFS, SyncBack and GoodSync. Microsoft used to put out a free utility called RoboCopy GUI that helped setting up the parameters for robocopy and made it easier to copy/paste pathnames when setting up a complex command where you need to exclude things like most of AppData. I was troubleshooting somebody else's computer and needed to back up their files while excluding some stuff.
